Creating an alternative tool to support reintegration

After seeing that a drivers licence could be a stumbling block for people in moving towards an offence free life, Probation Officer Ian was inspired to take the problem into his own hands. 

Creative items donated for children in hospital

Creative items made by women participating in the Sewing, Quilts, and Crafts programme at Auckland Region Women’s Corrections Facility (ARWCF) will be donated to Starship Children’s Hospital.

 

‘Kick for the Seagulls’ graduation

The programme uses the language of sport in an easily relatable way to teach literacy and numeracy skills, we well as general life skills and wellbeing.

Police and Corrections join forces for training

Corrections staff were recently joined by teams from the New Zealand Police for Advanced Control and Restraint training at Rimutaka Prison. 

Hariki Whare creates wairua-enhancing environment

For the first time, the Short Rehabilitation Programme for Men was delivered in the small, remote Eastern Bay of Plenty community of Te Kaha. Delivered at the Hariki Whare, the venue provided a therapeutic and wairua-enhancing environment close to the moana.
